自分はアニメを初視聴したんだけど、豪鬼が小春の心に語り掛けてきて、彼女が勝利のためなら手段を択ばないと決意した場面はまさに意図的でない偶然の隠されたメッセージ(unintentional easter egg)だと思った。豪鬼(Akuma)は感受性の強い人間を誘惑する悪魔(demon)としての役割を与えられていた。そして、日高は明確に悪魔という単語を口にしていた、これは豪鬼の翻訳版での名前だからだ。その後、原作を確認してみたら、これがはっきり作者によって意図されたものだと分かった。Sasuga, Oshikiri-sensei。
ハルオが原付に乗って大野に会うために大野宅を訪れた最後のシーンは、さながら白馬に乗って愛する女性の元に駆けつける騎士のように見えたよ、二人を別つのは文字通りそびえ立つ壁だけだ。このシリーズに現代のおとぎ話的な雰囲気が追加され、それは優しい恋愛ドラマのようだった。
ーーAs a anime-first viewer I thought the bits about Akuma visiting Koharu's mind and suggesting she'd take any means available if she were truly committed to winning was an unintentional easter egg because Akuma was acting just like an akuma (demon) tempting a susceptible human and Hidaka specifically mentioned that word during fight, although Akuma is the localised version of his name. Then I read the manga to find out the author made the reference pretty explicitly. Sasuga, Oshikiri-sensei.
The last scene where Haruo rides his scooter to Oono's mansion to see her before anyone else looked exactly like a gallant wandering knight on a white horse visiting the lady he adores, only to be literally separated by towering walls. It was fondly melodramatic as it further added up to the overall modern fairytale atmosphere this series excels at.

最後あたりのカットは本当に素晴らしいと思った。大野は壁のある庭の中で柵に囲まれていて、ハルオの背後には青空が広がっている。彼は鳥のように自由なんだ、特に新しいバイクを手にした彼はね。その一方で大野は籠に囚われている。

I thought this shot near the end was pretty excellent. Oono is fenced off in her own walled garden, while Haruo has the sky behind him—he's free as a bird, especially with the new bike, whereas Oono is caged in and trapped.

大野と日高の強さの差は思いの強さの差ではなくて、単純に才能の差だと思いますけどね。だって、格ゲーの上手さと愛情の強さってどう考えても独立した問題ですからね。

Hidaka tried to get Yaguchi to sleep with her. Hidaka has tried many different dirty tactics to get Yaguchi to notice her such as bullying him, trying to blackmail him into dating her if he lost against her, sleeping with him, and lastly defeating Oono. But that isn't what attracted Yaguchi to Oono in the first place. Hence why she said, "What does that make of my cheap love?" Because she hasn't been showing her true love. Therefore, it is cheap. Where as Oono has always been straightforward with Yaguchi and has never done anything dirty to him in the slightest.

ーーThat's because Oono doesn't have to do anything. She's already won him over. Those two are on a wavelength that no one can understand except the two of them. He reads her like an open book. He knows exactly what she is thinking, how she is feeling (except her feelings for him), and who she is.
I mean that was the whole point of this segment of the show. Had she just skipped the crap and gone to the confession straight away she would have had a better chance. But she relies on dirty tactics to win. And I pointed out the ones she has used. And that was the parallel that made her crack against Oono. She was just going to spam the haduken over and over and over again. Even though in a real competition that character is banned and can get you kicked out of the arcade.
She said she sold her soul to a demon. You don't sell your soul to a demon for the people you love. That isn't love. It's obsession. And that is what Oono was trying to drive into her head. And I think that was the beauty of this episode because Hidaka came to terms with it.

うん、漫画やアニメがこういった風にゲームを単に現実と結び付けるのではなく、良いメタファーとして使っているのが本当に素晴らしいと思うよ。自分だけかは分からないけど、原作よりアニメのほうがよりメタファーとして盛り上がっているような気がしたよ。台詞の言い方や音楽など全てがより少年作品らしさを醸し出してるからかな。

I'm not sure if its just me but it felt like the anime amped up on the metaphor than the manga but I think thats more because the way the lines are said, and the music all make it more shonen like.

Meanwhile, Haruo was doing something that hasn't done in a while: study. The idea was good, show a mature side, something that would work with any other girl, but with Akira... yikes.

大野は一生ザンギエフを使い続けるぞ、日高の豪鬼やあのセコい戦術に対してもね。大野があの困難な状況を一転させ、日高を叩きのめしたところが良かったな。彼女は素晴らしいよ、このＣＧじゃなければ、オレのお気に入りのキャラクターになっていただろうと思う。

ーーOono is a Zangief forever, even against that beast Akuma and those cheap chicken moves by Hidaka. I liked how he turned around the situation, and really pummeled her hard. She's awesome, if it wasn't for the bad CG she would've been my favorite character officially.
Wow, I was surprised that Haruo was getting a license to impress Oono, how sweet. But I don't understand why she backed away there?
I also wonder if we have seen the last of Hidaka? I seriously hope she can become friends with Oono as the show progresses, sisters stick together.

『ブレイキング・バッド』での１つのシーンを思い出させるな。そのシーンでは柱を使ってキャラクター同士の境界を表現していた。
あの見かけ上の画面の境と、存在感のあるフェンスは、一言の説明もなく、大野の状況について多くのことを語っているよ。
アニメはもちろん、ゴールデン帯のテレビ番組ではこういった類の視覚的なストーリーテリングは滅多に見られないから、本当に素晴らしいと思ったよ！

The faux split-screen and the overbearing fence speaks volumes about Oono's situation without the characters having say a single word.

つい先日、押切蓮介『ハイスコアガール』のスピンオフ作品『ハイスコアガールDASH』が、12月25日発売の月刊ビッグガンガン2020年Vol.01より連載されることが発表されました。一度も彼氏ができないままアラサーになってしまった日高小春が主人公の作品ということですが、この発表自体が原作を読んでいないアニメ視聴者に対するハイスコアガールのネタバレになってませんかね？アニメの勢いに乗っかって新年1号から続編をスタートさせたいという思惑は理解できますが、アニメの進行度を考慮して連載をもう１ヶ月待つか、もしくは作品の内容を連載開始まで伏せておいたほうが良かったと思います。
そして作品の概要がもう悲しすぎます。どうして続編でも日高をいじめるようなことをするんですか。だいたい日高みたいな女の子が現実にいたら絶対モテるに決まっていますよ。ハルオのようなゲーセンに住まう妖怪じみた青白い顔したガキよりよっぽどいい男がいくらでも寄ってくると思います。ハルオは気遣いもできるし、人好きのする性格をしていると思いますが、それだけではお金は稼げませんからね。私はきっとこの作品で日高が自分の幸せを掴む物語が描かれるのだと信じています。
